One of the best Ps1 databases, it really has(had?) a lot of pictures of Pal ps1 games, especially special editions and all the wierd and rare stuff, even had lots of info on different language releases. I hope it won't go down, that's where I go to check up on stuff I'm not sure on which language is...

It was pretty inactive, it had It's days in the past but in the present there was barely any activity.

I think It's the end because there aren't to many people who are active on that forum.

They were an excellent source for PAL collecting. I used to talk with one of the members on and off years ago, but our communication fell to the way side. The site was broken in the last few years where the php wouldn't display correctly, so I'm not surprised by this development.
Their site is fairly archived at http://web.archive.org/web/201603... as far as pictures are concerned, so that link will make a decent reference point.

It seems to me that only the first page of each letter is archived? So if you go onto page 2 of the "A" games for example, all links are broken. Any way of getting at these?

We had a discussion about it via the Facebook group a couple of weeks ago:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/P...

Also had the same discussion on another PlayStation collecting group, where Defcon replied stating that the site was undergoing some maintenance and upgrades, and will return in the next few months once he has finished working on it in his spare time.

New URL will be: http://www.playstation-collective... (not sure if he still plans on having DefconSoft URL direct to the site)

That's odd!

Don't know if that's a good sign that something might happen on their new site soon or not!

It might be a sign they let their URL ownership lapse and some random bloke bought it. Makes sense if they're moving to http://www.playstation-collective...

Maybe it's a good idea to take all of the pictures that were on the site via the link Dangerboy provided (http://web.archive.org/web/201603...); that way we know for sure all the work that has gone into scanning them etc. won't go away when the guys behind defconsoft decide not to continue with their project. Could take some hours to save them all but at least it's a back-up plan and we still have the box art etc. somewhere in the community.

The big problem with that link is it only allows you to view the first page of each letter. If you want to look at any games on the second page of "T" for example, they were never archived, so now can't bve viewed. Seems strange that they took this page down even if they are coming up with a new site. Wouldn't cost a lot to host it. It'd be a real pity of the community lost the info they had built up as it was a great site.

The pages / images also take forever to load. Knowing the extra pages weren't archived, it may be a fruitless attempt. You could try tracking them (owners) down, but as a site person myself, they may not have all the files properly archived on their back end. I know I didn't on mine, which is how the Living History project was born.

Yes. It... is... not... over.

Quick background info: I merged my PlayStation 1 site back then with Rob's into the Defconsoft site and was luckily the first to archive a complete PAL PS1 collection. I couldn't have managed that without BuckyB (Netherlands), Tinsair (UK) and Rob (Defcon, UK), who finished their complete collections right after mine.
I'm the maintainer of the main database (Excel) with spare help from BuckyB and sometimes from Tinsair. Rob has too much going on in the real world.

I'm working on the database excel sheet as we speak and we are at 6115 entries at the moment. This is all the main releases, country variants, compilations and limited editions. All with trivia and plenty of investigative data you haven't read anywhere yet.

I can't tell you, when we put all this online, as BuckyB is the main web guy, and he hasn't that much spare time. What I do plan is a printed softcover book with all that we have assembled in maybe 2020. There is still so much information and data to collect and investigate and we want to give a complete picture of PS1 PAL. It helps that we have all the stuff right before of our eyes and can investigate first hand, not just copy database stuff from various PS1 sites.

If you guys have questions to specific releases, I'd be happy to answer them as time permits.

Sorry, no. I plan to release a printed PS1 PAL book with all over 7300 found to date PS1 PAL games, rereleases, special editions and compilations maybe in one or two years time
